The PTO is an integral partner at Akiva. It supports Akiva’s educational goals and the ideal to nurture the whole child in all aspects of development. To that end, the PTO focuses on arranging activities that raise students’ sense of moral and social ability, helping them realize their full potential and their responsibility towards the community in which they live. The PTO strives to further increase and improve Akiva’s communication network between the school and parents, which enhances the learning environment.
The PTO raises funds through its membership dues and from the various school-wide fund-raising events. Through those generated funds, the PTO has provided or supplemented funds to cover the cost of:- Supplies for teachers and major purchases, i.e., “Smart Boards,” computers
- Enrichment programming
- Curriculum development
- Back-to-school family/staff picnic
- Holiday events
- Grade specific activities
- After-school enrichment classes
- Sport teams
- Special school events
The PTO plays a large role in fostering the warm family atmosphere that has been a hallmark of the Akiva community.
